Keiko Lynn is the designer of really, really, really cute alternative clothing brand, Postlapsaria. She also doubles as her own best advertisement, modeling most of her own designs.

Her gorgeous, quirky look is synonymous with her brands mission statement:

Postlapsaria.com is dedicated to creating and distributing products that stimulate an aesthetic in people who appreciate sub-culture.

I first started reading her blog a looooong time ago, maybe 4-5 years? She has a really cute puppy, good looking friends, a great attitude on life… oh, and she posts many pictures of her super cute clothing that’s for sale via her website, Postlapsaria!

One of the things that makes Keiko so appealing both as a designer & a person, is her interaction with her customers & fans. She personally responds to all comments left on her blog & will even custom designs & make you individual pieces if you ask (nicely of course)!

She ships internationally at no extra cost (what a dear) & for non-Americans, the exchange rate is excellent for US purchases right now, which means you have basically no excuse not to check out her stuff & snap it up before someone else does!

I had a quick interview with the lovely Keiko, & here is what she had to say:

What is the significance of the name Postlapsaria?
Postlapsaria roughly translates to “after the fall/destruction.” When I first started, I exclusively used discarded clothing and made them new, again. It was a visual revival of clothing that was past its prime. Now, I mainly focus on original creations.

What inspires you? When did you know you wanted to create clothing as a career?
My little sister, Tessa, inspires me. She’s my tiny little muse. Even though she wouldn’t wear half of what I put out there, I like to think that it all represents little pieces of her. Features from the vintage clothing in my closet tend to pop up now and then. I’m a lover of all things vintage and antique, and I especially love to put modern twists on old classics.

Any bad jobs in your younger days? (It’s inspiring for those of us who are currently stuck in them!)
I’ve only had one “real” job, with a regular paycheck. I worked at Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, all throughout high school. I hate to say it but I kind of loved working there! It was a great job for a high school kid. I worked with really fun people and got to make pretzels, all day. Sometimes we would make them in funny shapes and give them to random people (don’t tell the owners!).

I have had several odd jobs. Mostly just helping out with the family businesses (my mom has an antique store and a bar). I had a short stint writing for SBC’s Project DU, which helped me through a few semesters of college. Other than that, I’ve just been making clothing, since I started college.

What is your personal favourite store for online shopping?
Etsy.com! Absolutely. I recently started a shop on there (Postlapsaria on Etsy) but I use most, if not all of my profits on other shops. They have everything! I love to support talented, independent crafters.

What’s your favourite piece available in your store at the moment?
This
top was my favorite, from last week. I liked it so much, I made a similar one for myself. It sold, though…so, of the ones that are left, I’d have to say this one:

I just love the brown, plaid fabric and loose silhouettes.

What does the future hold for Keiko & Postlapsaria?
I’m looking to hire my first, real employee! I can’t keep up with everything. I have several stores waiting on orders and I am the only one making the clothing. It’s getting to be too difficult to juggle everything on my own.
Other than that, I’m focusing on my next show, which will be on September 13th, in Orlando, Florida. I’m flying down next week, to get things going. It’s my first self-funded show, so I’m pouring everything I have into it. It’s going to be beautiful – you’ll just have to wait and see!

Love love,
Keiko Lynn

Interview with Sean Morris

Ohhhhkay! I am pretty sick last night, been going out so much & not getting to sleep until 7am basically every morning for the past week. I can’t really talk / breathe / exist very well right now.

Yesterday/this morning we went to party for our last night here in Las Vegas @ Rain Nightclub, in The Palms hotel (which is where they hold the MTV music awards).

I’ve never been particularly fond of “the clubbb” but I guess it’s a little different when you’re with a huge group of people who are happy to kill a few k in one …4 nights a week (honestly not bragging, it just blows my mind).

So that makes things more fun than would usually be, America is insane like that. There are so many privileges for those who have a lot of money. The rich/poor divide is a lot more evident here.

So we rolled into the club @ 1amish after having the worst taxi driver ever & were VIP for some reason so we skipped the queue.. we had our own private booth in the middle of the dance floor, seperated from everyone else by a little velvet rope..! Extremely scantily clad waitresses then bring over bottles of alcohol, water & juices and proceed to serve all night. It’s pretty crazy.

This nightclub had: random fireballs descending from the ceiling every half hour or so..seriously (I took photos!) and they make you SO HOT, 1 dollar bills falling from the ceiling haha, a little waterfall inside…sooooooooo insane!

Partied with our friends for a few hours which was reallllly fun! I wasn’t drinking at all because of being sick, but was shakin it to R n B songs haha! Even Jay danced!!! An amazing feat for those who are unaware.

We decided to catch a taxi home at 4amish. UNFORTUNATELY…

There is only one key for our house. Someone (probably me!) had left it inside before we went out. This means no entry to the house! So we did what anyone would do on their last night in Vegas, locked out of the house with nothing to do & a swimming pool nearby… underwear swimming! (I’m too prude for fully naked)

That was fun, then everyone came home super drunk & broke down the door so we could get in. Hoorar! Ate “Texas Toast” (garlic bread) & I proceeded to fall asleep:)

Now I am procrastinating packing. There is soooooo much & my suitcase will NOT fit it all!!! We’re flying to LA Tonight & leaving for the airport in 1.5 hours so I need to get moving…eeeep.

I’m going to miss Vegas so much! I really loved it I think. It has been my home for the past 5-6 weeks & I really like everyone we’ve been living with. They are all great guys & it has been a blast.

Vegas = so pretty. It’s going to be weird to leave..

SOSSO! We will be going to Disneyland & Universal Studios I think. Also hopefully eating at some vegetarian restaurants.

OH! Saw Cirque Du Soleil “Ka” the other night & I honestly think it has to be one of the best/most amazing things I have EVER seen in my life. So if you get the chance, you MUSTMUSTMUST see it! Simply amazing.

I have to finish packing now as the taxi is coming in an hour and theres still lots to do. Jay isn’t even awake yet. I am not packing his bag!
