Las Vegas!
May 24, 2008
Eeeeeeek! So I am venturing out of my comfort zone & facing something scary for me. I am flying to Las Vegas & America for 6 weeks+!!! I haven’t been out of the country in about 15 years, I am really really nervous but also SO excited! My boy friend is going for the World Series of Poker, he plays for a living and does decently. I’m leaving on Saturday the 31st May & returning…sometime!
We are flying Qantas and the trip will be about 22 hours all up! EEEEEEK! Mega. It will be a true test and I know that if I can do this trip then I can do basically any trip:)
My time over there is going to consist of shopping shopping shopping!!! Thrift shopping as well I’m going to go to as many as I can. Going to spas/fitness centres in the hotels so I can be fit & stress free. Also! Going to see so many shows like Cirques, GEORGE MICHAEL hehe, Ray Romano hopefully, Phantom of the Opera…more more more.
I am going to see Cursive, Morrissey, Jesse Lacey solo…wowowow. And also should be going to Lollapalooza to see RADIOHEAD AND BRAND NEW! Wow. Best ever basically!
I’ll post heaps of photos up here and will be taking my laptop with me so be updating frequently. Yay!
Wish me luck! x
Weekend Update!
May 19, 2008

I’ve been lazy over the weekend, been feeling pretty down so haven’t felt like updating this. I’m determined not to be stuck in this rut I’ve found myself in. I spent about 6-7 hours Today playing the game “Bully” on WII. It is SO FUN! But lethargy is contagious so I hope I find the inspiration to kick my own butt & get moving.
The other night at about 1am I went to the gym and did about 5 minutes on the cross trainer before I felt like I was going to die! Then did about 20 minutes on the treadmill at a steady pace & felt really really good afterwards & sooooo sleepy when I got home. I had a restless sleep though & I think it’s all contributed to me feeling a bit off the past few days. I am so unfit! But I plan to fix this..
Today the fedEX man left a little slip in my letter box. THAT MEANS LUELLAS ARE IN TOWN! I have to go to the fedEX land tomorrow and pick it up. oh me oh my!
Also had the yummiest Thai Tonight from Saowanees Thai Place on Fitzgerald street in Mount Lawley. Recommended! I had a delicious vege stir fry with roti. Yummmmm:D
I’ve been buying a few things the past couple days to cheer myself up, first up I did a Lush order & this is what i bought:
1 x Floating Island
1 x Amandopondo
2 x Creamy Candy
2 x Waving not Drowning
1 x Big Blue
1 x Fairy Jasmine
1 x Avobath
1 x Sex Bomb
1 x Melting Marshmallow Moment
1 x Sakura
1 x Honey Bee
1 x Youki-Hi
1 x Ma Bar
1 x Marathon Bar Bubble Bar
1 x Champagne Supernova Bath Ballistic
I love love love baths! I usually find i can’t stay in them any longer than 20 minutes because I get bored, but I do find them so relaxing, especially the ones that are specially designed to calm you down or clear your head. Can’t wait for these little suckers to arrive so I can get to it:)!

I bought this tee Yesterday! I think it is really cute & I hope it suits me. It is from Zendie, which is a cute online shop that stocks a few designer-y brands.
And last but not least I bought Benefit Blush in Dandelion! I’ve heard rave reviews of it being a wonderful blush for PPP’s (Pale Porcelain Princesses)
And figured that I am about as porcelain as they come so hook me up!
Massage Benefits Pt. 1
May 14, 2008

Today these pretty piggies & I had something in common. I too found myself submerged in mud filled waters…but by choice! Yes I had a mud bath, followed by a full body massage – in keeping with my ‘experiment’.
Since I’d never had it done before I didn’t really know what to expect. Would it smell bad? How would I feel afterwards? Am I going to get dirt in places I don’t want to!?!!
Thankfully a) it smelt fine but it was a little creepy hopping into a brown, murky bath tub. b) I can’t really say I feel any different, apparently the moor mud is really good for aches and pains in your body, which I didn’t really have, and also just general stress relief, so I don’t know yet. Court undecided. c) No dirt in unwanted places! Hooray. There were chunks of mud floating around in the bath (not as offputting as it sounds!) and it was fun to squish them up in my hand hehe.
So average experience with the mud bath but would try again to make sure. The massage was also average unfortunately
It was not with my regular girl and it tickled waaaaaaaaaaay too much to the point where I wasn’t able to relax – which was the point..so a bit of a fail there too sadly.
However the place I go is called The Beauty Cove it is in South Perth. I really recommend it usually! If you need a massage ask for Kate or Natalie, they are both fantastic & do the other treatments really well as well. It is definitely worth it! I have learned a lesson Today too, in that from now on I will specifically ask for the person that I want.
In other news I had 10 readers Today, yay! I’m updating this daily because I have no job so feel free to leave a comment & I’m sure to reply pretty rapidly!
My goals for Tomorrow are to buy a bathing suit (difficult in Winter!) so that I can start swimming, sauna-ing, spa-ing & steam room-ing at my local gym, I’m hoping that doing this and keeping fit will help keep my stress at bay, which is my primary goal right now.
It’s 3am and I can’t sleep so I’m going to drink Chamomile tea (more on this later!) & attempt to doze off and have dreams of mud bathing piglets. xx
maybe she’s born with it…maybe it’s GHD!?

“getting the chop” by heidillustration
The other day when I ran out to my post box, I found the brand new ghd IV styler! This baby claims to “curl as easily as it straightens” .. ooooh!
I’ve always wondered if ghd was over rated, after all, how much better can any one hair straightener be? I began my hair ironing debut with a 29.95 remington number, I burned myself numerous times & dried my hair to a crisp, but I still loved its ability to somewhat tame my frizzy, unloved hair.
Next up a remington $130 model which was fine too… HOWEVER!
I have straightened my hair ONCE with the ghd and have come to the conclusion that it blows all other hair straighteners out of the water. At first I was sceptical because it is quite thin and I figured it wouldn’t be able to quickly & easily straighten bigger chunks of hair. Wrong. It cut through like the proverbial hot knife & left my hair super shiny & straight! All this in about 2 minutes! To say I’m ecstatic is an understatement.
I’m not great at doing reviews, but do yourself a favour! If you are considering a new hair straightening device or your old one really isn’t cutting it..consider splashing out on a ghd IV.
www.ry.com.au is where I purchased mine from, and if you use the code VOGUERY you will get 10% off. Enjoy! xx
kittens adventures in designer-land!
May 13, 2008

I have been feeling a bit sad the past couple days so Yesterday I cheered myself up with some online shopping!:) Today it is deliciously gray & rainy which has the most amazing calming influence on me, so even though I’ve been grumpy – just lying here now looking out the window from my two story dwelling, watching the clouds roll by – ah, I feel like I don’t have to be so angsty with the world.
I digress I digress! Here are the lovely Luella pieces that are winging their way to me as I type this. *squeal*

“Waving Batman Tee”
This is such a cute tee, no? I was umming and ahhing about it because I have a lot of tee-shirts already, but it was just too cute & black and white looks good with anything! I think I will wear this cutie whenever I am doing something nerdy or you know, saving the world..which is every other day;)

“Dave Skinhead Sweater”
I looooooove this! Totally my thing! There was white & tan which I also liked, but I decided to play it safe with the black. In case anyone didn’t know, this whole collection was based up the theme of “Ghost World” the movie (which is no longer available to buy in Australia for some reason, I’ve been searching for it for so long but it’s been deleted!! I <3 the movie! RIP Brad Renfro ♥ ) & superheros. I can imagine wearing this top with a short skirt and black knee socks with flats on my way to an imaginary educational institution, book in hand. *dreams*

“Mary Jane Collar Tee”
Oh my gosh. This is the top that initiated my current love affair with Luella.

This picture actually! I’m not a real fan of oversized/crazy-quirky faux-nerd glasses that are “in” atm but the rest of the outfit is extremely pleasing to me! I saw a few other pics of the top and knew it was to be mine.. now lets just hope it fits! I will be more than a little devastated if it doesn’t & will probably MAKE it fit however I can! I will wear this darling with..everything I can.

“Foxy Tee”
Cute! I just like this a lot and the fox is cute & also looks kinda evil, I’m down with his ‘tude! Will wear with cardigans & ballet flats – my usual look!
& for our lucky last contestant..

“Love love love, Wool/Cashmere Red Cardigan”
I’ve been searching for a great red cardigan for AGES! And I’m hoping this one fits the bill, it looks like it does and is made from good materials (I feel bad for the animals though! Sorry, friends
). I will wear this with everything too!
So that wraps up my little spending spree, I can’t WAIT to get it all. Apparently it will take about three weeks! Wish me luck being patient and that it all fits.. and let me know what you think! xo
Who is Kaki King?
May 11, 2008
Ahh! This must be enjoyed by as many people as possible.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kD1nsmeXRk unfortunately it didn’t give me the option to embed it into my blog but it is a worthwhile watch!! So good. I saw this lady at Tegan&Sara. I unashamedly love this song!
My experiments with massage & relaxation
May 11, 2008

Recently I’ve had the good fortune of time away from working to begin taking care of myself a little better. What pre-dated this however was a period of intense stress for me, I had two choices.. to continue down the road to ruin (of which I was very close to the end) or leave my job in order to attempt the restoration of sanity & general health. I guess this sounds bad! And it was not fun, but I chose the right option and now I am much happier.
In short, I chose the thing that was going to be best for me now & in the future (I hope!) and as I was saying in my previous entry, that’s part of what this is for. To keep track of things & remind myself that anything is possible!
OKAY! Well that was just a little back story before I get to what I actually want to write about!
I’ve always been interested in health, nutrition, lotions, potions & other avenues of perceived self-improvement. Due to life & it’s curve balls lately I’ve become really enamoured with the benefits of massage!
Here are some of the benefits that regular massage (once every 2 weeks or more frequently) claim to impart!
| Enhancing general relaxation | Reducing muscular tension and associated discomfort |
|
| Reducing anxiety | Improving sleep | Increasing feelings of well-being |
| Enhancing tissue elasticity and flexibility | Increasing range of motion in joints | Relaxing tight muscles |
| Relieving muscle aches and stiffness | Speeding recovery from exercise | Promoting well nourished – healthy skin |
| Improving circulation of blood + lymph | Improving immune system functioning | Improving energy flow |
My personal experience of massage has been varied! The first massage I ever received was amazing, my head felt really pleasantly light and tingly afterwards and it was a feeling I hadn’t experienced since I was a child. Secondly however I had a hot-rocks massage at a not so reputable salon and they actually BURNED me with the hot rocks! Far less enjoyable…
Now however I’ve found my favourite place! After I go there, colours seem much brighter and I really feel at peace with the world for days afterwards. I feel totally relaxed and willing to join the human race. It really interests me about the improved vision I experience. I’m not sure why it is! If anyone has had a massage, please comment on your experiences and the way you felt immediately after & the following days because I am really interested!
I’m going to start getting weekly full body massages & analyse the way I feel after multiple treatments. Hopefully I will experience many of the benefits listed above!
I am excited to find out what will happen & encourage anyone else reading to take part. It may seem pricey ($60-$90 aud for 1hr) but I honestly think it is worth it in the short & long term. After all what is more important than your mental, physical and social health? Nothing! xx
Somewhere to begin…very first blog post!
May 11, 2008

so this is my first post of my new little blog world, how exciting! this is all a bit of an experiment so i can’t tell where this will or wont lead right now, i can however tell you that i am a 23.5 year old nerd girl living in the most isolated city in the world..(PERTH! for those unfamiliar with random geographical statistical knowledge) and somewhat frustrated with this existence. i feel the need to inspire and in turn be inspired to do the best things possible, every single day. i think this is a really awesome way to look at things. just sit there, and think to yourself “what is the BEST thing that i can be doing for myself right now to improve my health / how i feel / how i want my life to be in the future / how i look / how i am terrible at ‘x’..etc?”
i more than anyone need this help and inspiration, so i feel that by keeping track of things i can help myself and hopefully others too. but we will see about that
to any potential eyes that have just viewed my first entry. thank you! & stay tuned…
xo kitten
PS. I saw Elton John tonight with my friend & it was great! I am really happy I have had the chance to view him, he is cute & i think his wig looks pretty life-like! it rained while he was playing and even though i was super cold it was so enjoyable. go elton! i also rode a glass elevator to the top floor of a hotel and eek-ed a little bit because i am squeamish about heights. so that is something productive i did today! I FELT THE FEAR AND DID IT ANYWAY! this is a pretty long ps. i also just want to record the fact that soy chai tea is an amazing beverage and suggest consumption to those with no prior experience with this elixer of kings.
xx
